Six hours ago, the New York Times (NYT) announced in the Editor & Publisher, a trade journal, that it would begin charging for access for some NYT material.

Now that I have your attention, I have important news for you. My mummy is here to visit for the entire week!

She is here to help me shop for a house here. The main idea is since I have to be here for about 4 more years, I could save tens of thousands of dollars in rent by buying one outright and pay a (tax-deductible!) mortgage here, then recuperate most of it back by selling the house off once I am done here.

My budget is $80,000 plus administrative costs. Wish me luck.
