Weekend in Chicago

My overnight trip to Chicago begins in an hour’s time, after I wipe up the last of yesterday’s coke-battered fried avocado. What joy!

Planned itinerary:
Friday, June 3

  1. Lunch at Bistro 110, just off Michigan Avenue.
  2. Hang out at Artworks Chicago on Canal Street
  3. Dinner at Avec Restaurant. This is a spinoff of the famous (and super ex!) Blackbird.
  4. Improv/Sketch comedy act at the Second City Mainstage.
  5. Late night bumming around at Ethel’s Chocolate Lounge.
  6. Crash at a friend’s place.

Saturday, June 4

  1. Shopping at Gurnee Mills
  2. Lunch at Joy Yee’s Noodles
  3. Hang around Hyde Park’s 57th street art fair

Cal. Media: Singapore is in China

Otterman spots a bad case of American insularity in an article in the Monterey County Herald:

Lindley Morris Zerbe, a former Carmel resident now employed in China at National University of Singapore, reached the summit of Mt. Everest on Tuesday morning, making the final ascent despite high winds and extreme temperatures.

Tut tut.
