General elections are coming!

Channelnewsasia reports that the Elections Department in Singapore is soliciting citizens to check and update their status on the Registers of Electors. Also seen on From A Singapore Angle.

If you’re eligible to vote (above 21, citizen, etc.) but stuck abroad like I am, there are two things you should do:

  1. Check your name against the Register of Electors online by Jan 30, 2006. Or you can do so at an overseas registration center.
  2. Register to vote online at an overseas polling station, or mail in a printed application [pdf]. Registration ends Feb 6, 2006.

Note: A valid SingPass is required for the online forms.

For those of you in North America, note that you have (somewhat) of a choice between the Washington embassy or the San Francisco consulate polling stations. Yes, no Canadian, Caribbean or Mexican stations.

P. S. I was doing a crossword puzzle the other day. There was a clue that read “______ Angle”. I swear, for the next two minutes, I couldn’t think of anything else but “From a Singapore Angle”. Go figure that brainworm out. Loy, are you reading this? :)

P. P. S. Yes, I’m still sick.
