Trying a different format today. Having a major writing project has made me want to procrastinate. As usual. Sigh.
Indonesian ‘Eden’ discovered
The scientific world (or at least the integrative biologists, to use modern lingo) is abuzz with the discovery of incredible biodiversity on the Foja Mountains of Papua New Guinea. Oh, and check out the absolutely gorgeous photos from National Geographic. The search for an obscure bird known as Berlepsch’s Six-wired Bird of Paradise seems to have paid off big time for Conservation International.
Danish newspaper had refused offensive Jesus photos
The story of the now infamous Prophet Mohammed cartoons run by the Danish Jyllands-Posten [dn] newspaper last September now has a new twist. Reuters now reports that in 2002, they had refused to publish similarly offensive cartoons of Jesus. Like the Muslim world needs more oil in their conflagrations. Wikipedia, by the way, has archived the cartoons so that you can actually see for yourself what the big fuss is about.
Krannert update
So during last Saturday’s performance of Mozart’s Requiem, one of the soloists muffed his solo. Oops.
In other news, I’m watching tonight’s show where I’m expecting British troops to prance around onstage and play bagpipes. Where do they get their concert ideas from?
