The blog server happily ate part of the blog database earlier today, and caused me no end of trouble which I only just got to end.

At the same time, I’ve consolidated all RSS subscriptions to the main feed into a single Feedburner feed. Hopefully this will bring older subscriptions into line with the most current version of this blog. Existing subscriptions are already automatically forwarded to the consolidated subscription

At the request of some users, I’ve also created a second Feedburner feed dedicated entirely to the posts under the Singapore category dealing with political, economic and social issues; get it at http://feeds.feedburner.com/polecsoc. Enjoy.

One of the more unusual features of working in a building full of wet chemistry labs is the occasional visit from the fire department, and watching the HazMat (hazardous materials) team nonchalantly stroll into a room that may be contaminated with anything from volatile ether-turned-peroxides to poisonous gases to just plain nastly vaporized mercury all over the walls.

Thankfully, no one was hurt before today’s visit. Just a gas leak, nothing too nasty.
