I’m back in lab, after a month-long hiatus in Singapore which was partly enforced by the calamitous hard drive crash of my lab notebook whilst in Singapore.

My advisor managed to stun me with the following koan-like exchange:

He: So you didn’t do anything this break?

Me: No. Did you read the two drafts I gave you before I left?

He: No, but I put it on the action pile.

Me: Are you trying GTD?

He: Yeah, I bought the book: I figured that I wasn’t Getting enough Things Done. I even put ‘read the book’ on the To Do List. But that was four months ago. So much for that, huh.

Me: No shit.

I guess I’ll have the weekend to mull over it while I hide at home cowering from the -20 C Sunday.
