My work yesterday was interrupted at 5:40 pm or so by the fire alarm. . Turned out the sprinkler mains water pipe had exploded due to a failure in the water heater.

I went back into lab today. Our work offices are completely soaked with rusty water, and the carpets all smell sour. I didn’t look in the basement, but I hope none of the super-expensive NMR magnets were affected.
